Palliative Care
Vision and Approach
Our Palliative Care Program is led by Dr. Gloria Akankwasa, one of the few formally trained palliative care specialists in the region. Through her leadership, we bring comfort, dignity, and medical expertise to patients and families facing serious or life-limiting illnesses. Dr. Akankwasa also leads her own organization dedicated to advancing palliative care research and community outreach, and she generously extends her experience and mentorship to guide Damico Health’s mission in the field.
Our approach is deeply community-centered. We travel to remote and underserved areas, often reaching patients in their homes where access to formal health facilities is impossible. Our teams deliver essential medications, pain management, and symptom control, while also providing psychosocial support to both patients and caregivers. These visits ensure that no individual suffers needlessly due to geographic or financial barriers.
