The origins of Damico Health trace back to 2016, when several team members traveled to Uganda to provide care in underserved communities. This experience inspired our commitment to global health and revealed opportunities to strengthen health operations. Initially composed of American medical professionals and students, our team quickly realized the importance of empowering local leaders to guide on-the-ground work.
It became clear that imposing an American model abroad was ineffective. Instead, we worked to integrate beneficial aspects of our system into local practices. The strengths of U.S. healthcare often highlight gaps in other nations, while their approaches frequently address shortcomings in ours. Bridging these perspectives was challenging but ultimately led to the formal establishment of Damico Health in 2020, with 501(c)(3) recognition in 2022.
Our journey emphasizes the value of adaptability and collaboration in global health. By combining American data-driven methods with the resourcefulness and community focus of local systems, we have developed a more sustainable model for delivering care.
At Damico Health, we strive to be global health leaders, aiming to enhance health outcomes and medical access for the underserved populations across the globe. Our mission is driven by an unyielding sense of urgency and purpose, recognizing the potential impact on individual lives.
Committed to delivering tailored, evidence-based health interventions, we cooperate with local bodies to build capacity and foster sustainable solutions. We offer educational opportunities for medical professionals and students, understanding that education is key to enduring, impactful global health efforts.
Adhering to the highest ethical standards, we promote transparency, accountability, and respect for all we serve. We acknowledge the intricate cultural and social contexts of our work and foster relationships based on trust and faith.
